Born out of sheer genius and musical wizardry of its founder-director Steve Abad Collado, KHP Coro Techniuv (or simply Coro Techniuv) choir came into existence in 1992. Composed mostly of scholars from Technical University of the Philippines(TUP) in Dasmarinas, Cavite, Coro Techniuv quickly rose to fame when, in less than a year of existence, it emerged as the runaway winner in a choral festival organized by the Cultural and Athletic Association of Colleges and Universities of thePhilippines(CAACUP). Likewise in the same year, it made history as it became the first champion of the Paskuhan sa Imus Choral Competition in Imus, Cavite.
Not resting on its laurels, Coro Techniuv participated and won third place in the De La Salle Universitysponsored Metrochorale 2006 held at Philamlife Auditorium, Manila. Coro Techniuv had its first European Tour from September 27 to October 31, 2008 and performed in concerts in Russia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Spain, Italy and Germany. The choir also visited Copenhagen, Denmark and Nice & Paris, France.
It was during this very first European Tour that Coro Techniuv had its taste of worldwide recognition and acclaim when it won grand prizes in two international choir competitions. First was the Grand Prix in the 1st International Interfolklore competition in St. Petersburg, Russia where Coro Techniuv bested out 25 participating groups from 10 countries in Europe . Second was the 1st Prize in the 2nd Rimini International Choir Competition in Rimini, Italy where it garnered a rating of 95%, the highest among those earned by the rest of the participating choirs from 17 countries.
Under the direction of its indefatigable choirmaster, Coro Techniuv continues to excel and shine as it renders in acapella songs ranging from Renaissance and religious classics to folk and contemporary music.
The choir currently serves at the Kristong Hari Quasi Parish, Paliparan, Dasmarinas,
Cavite under the spiritual guidance of Rev. Fr. Gilbert D. Urubio.
